Footsteps
His strides are too long for my little
legs.
The shoes are too big and I stumble and fall.
Daddy would laugh at how silly I looked,
But with a pride in his heart that I should try at all.
I try to walk in the footsteps of Jesus,
But I am like a raging bull.
He walks carefully, with well planned
steps.
I barge right in, good intentions blown.
He takes my hand to slow me down.
Reminding me I am not alone.
I try to walk in the footsteps of Jesus,
But try as I might, I keep messing up.
He shows me patience, love and caring.
So is that all that I have to do?
For of all things told, this one stands out:
"You must love one another just as I have loved you."
So I keep on trying as hard as I can ,
To walk in the footsteps of Jesus,
Knowing the strides are too great for me.
I'll run to catch up, While He waits for me.
